It really feels good to know that I am not the only one who has a penchant for these. Although being classified with Dubya is a pain.

They brought over the n-times (think it was some God awful figure like 11) X-Games world champion to our campus for stunts. Go figure.

But it was amazing. The things these guys can do with bikes is unimaginable. The pic you see here is just a mild version. The video says it all. Lots of fun - and free Red Bull

You would think that since I am the prime wearer of a French beard, the primary objection would come from me (and of course my better half). But no, everyone seems to object.

1. It makes you look old (chee - thats a surprise considering that I am already called the old man of the class)
2. You look like a south Indian villian (wow - I consider it a compliment - they look better than the heroes at least)
3. Doesn't it itch (I'm a masochist)
4. Ewwwwwwwwww (Yeah thats from a girl - no surprises there)
5. Oh, you look so sexy in this (no - I do NOT get this. Its just wishful thinking)

Judge for yourself.

I just watched Being John Malkovich a couple of days back, and it got me thinking. How would you like to live forever?

Frankly, even if you discount the physical problems, and say that you can live a perfectly healthy life forever, would you like it? I wouldn't. Is it a sign of our times, or is it only me? Or has immortality been a curse forever? I remember Mahabharata where Bheeshma couldn't die until he wanted to.

What would I do if I lived forever? Or lets even say for a looooong time? I remembered this Larry Niven series based on the Protector, Ptaavs and Jack Brenner. Guardian of humankind. Can I avoid getting bored if I live that long?

Questions, questions. And no answers...

3. Ok, progress. I move on to Books which I need to read. And decide to make a list. And decide that its too much work.
4. Food. Damn, regressing again
5. Cadbury's Fruit and Nut. This is different from food. Its manna from heaven.

7. Sleep - mankind's - rather MBAkinds worst affliction

Why is it that even after so many presentations, so many talks in front of so many people, each time I still end up shivering before I go up against the wall (as I see it:))

Another presentation done, another 20% of my grade for this subject done. Noticeable improvements though. But the nervousness just does not go away. Ah well, lets see what I say about it in another two years at IIMB.
Continuing on the same subject, the seniors here are so much more confident, so much more able to talk in front of an audience...Is that what one year in this place does to you? Not bad then, it will probably be my biggest takeaway from here :):)

Writing SOPs or "Statements of Purpose" for the uninitiated, seems to be a large part of my job here at IIMB. Bah!

At the IIMB Campus. Its been a month without reading, and finally I decided to take some time out. A leisurely morning spent reading R K Narayan's "The Guide". Ahhh the bliss. Cold weather, a hot cup of coffee at the snack joint and no friends around :):)

Lovely book, and a style of writing that I have not been used to before. IIMB has a novel library run by students (different from the official one), and a variety of books that made me smile. Its in a converted toilet, in a small corner of the hostel, can you believe it?

Though, a lot less people here who like books...

Believe me, it reads scarier than any other novel I have read. Stephen King cannot hold a candle to this. All the information is already available at our fingertips. This guy has just compiled it into one blog.

I wonder, sitting up late at night,
Itna kyon maar raha hoon fight,
To stay awake,
Playing a game, real or fake,
When sleep seems like bliss in my sight.

Yeah yeah, not one of my best ones I know. But at 12:34 at night, its a little sifficult (oops make that difficult) to be coherent. Everyone has gone to sleep, and tomorrow is a holiday. I wonder, and ponder and so on and forth, why am I awake?

Philosophically, maybe to quest for the meaning in life? (The answer is 42...I defintiely know that at this point of time. A session with some vodka will only enhance this fact)

Physically, to make sure that my body is as unfit and unhealthy as possible. And the fact that the bed feels hard.

Mentally, to drag out the calm and peaceful end of a day when I can spend some time wihtout anyone around me...and maybe sit on the net and surrrrffff and do nothing.

I guess is just sheer cussedness because I feel that sleep is a waste of time, when there are so many other things to be done.
Of course this is valid only when i am awake. When i get up in the morn, it goes the other way around!

A couple of things have happened in the last few days.

1. The IIMs came out with their results. Got through to Bangalore finally! Its such a relief, although you dont realize this until after the event. The aftermath makes you realize you were sooo tense. Also got through to C, L, K. Also had IIFT, IIT B as backups and XLRI waitlisted. I had left ISB earlier. Really had wanted to get A or B after giving up ISB, and now am glad I had.

2. Am getting engaged! 14th May is D-day...am really lucky to have her...:):):):) Words are not enough to say more.
